Christina Holland
Christina is a Relate-trained counsellor with over 10 years' experience, initially for Relate and more recently in private practice in Burnham on Crouch.
Couple relationships can be strained by trust issues, affairs, parenting issues, influences from other members of the family, job and economic issues, health difficulties, sexual difficulties, people "growing apart" from each other, and a whole host of other life events. Christina offers an integrative counselling approach that can help couples work through these issues and re-discover the strengths in their relationship. Couple counselling combines traditional counselling techniques with educating in communication skills and acting as a mediator to resolve differences.
She says, "In all the work I do, from whatever theory or approach, I value each person for who they are and the unique story they bring. I enjoy seeing how people discover ways to move from a place where they are struggling, to a place where they begin to move on in their lives. The problems couples bring to counselling are rich in meaning and provide an opportunity for them to understand more about their relationship and find a deeper connection."
Christina also works with couples who are separating, and those who need to find ways to continue to parent successfully after separation or divorce.
She is an accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and abides by the BACP Code of Ethics and Practice. She has regular supervision with a qualified supervisor, which is a requirement to practise. She continually reviews her practice and ensures she keeps up to date and engages in regular training and development.
Couple counselling is offered to all couple relationships: marriage, civil partnerships, same sex relationships.
