 I
have been counselling as a qualified psychotherapist for ten
years. I am an Accredited BACP counsellor and adhere to their
Code of Ethics. Before this, my previous experience came from
working with the Samaritans. The following are my main qualifications:
- Diploma
in Advanced Counselling
- Four
years of Clinical Training as a Transactional Analyst (Psychotherapist)
- Certified
NLP Master Practitioner.
- Qualified
EMDR and EFT practitioner (for dealing with trauma)
- Certified
Hypnotherapist.
- Diploma
in Clinical Supervision
I
offer counselling to couples and individuals, also group therapy,
supervision and training.
I
am a Director of Connect, an organisation offering specialist
couples counselling. Currently, this is available in the Devon
area and we have plans to gradually increase the coverage
of this service.
After working with many couples, I have concluded that the
people who make relationships work well have certain skills
and an understanding of what the nature of a relationship
really is. Relationships that endure and deepen are formed
by couples who understand what is really going on in their
relationship, who are aware that the modern relationship is
an evolutionary gift with unique potential for healing our
childhood wounds and facilitating our personal growth. These
successful couples also have good interpersonal skills: listening,
clear communication, negotiation, handling anger appropriately.
That
is good news, because you can learn to really understand relationships
in a way that you may never have before. You can learn new
skills that will change the unhelpful patterns of your relationship
and facilitate a closer and more fulfilling time together.
