I
am a Relate-qualified couples therapist with 7 years' experience,
group therapist with 10 years' experience and an arts therapist
with 12 years' experience who set up and developed the Family
Support Service at PACE in 2000.
PACE (Project for Advice, Counselling and Education), is London's
leading charity promoting the mental health and emotional
well-being of the lesbian, gay and bisexual community.
I have worked within the Mental Health service in many settings
for 20 years as a therapist, supervisor, group therapist and
arts therapist.
I have published articles on various issues that are of particular
interest to me, ranging from diverse sexuality, same-sex parenting
and the role of the arts therapies in palliative care.
I presently manage the family support service at PACE, where
I see a variety of couples/ parents and also provide training
to Social Work adoption teams who work with same-sex couples
wishing to adopt and foster children.
I have always been interested in the diverse nature of being
human and the unique experience that makes up that human life.
It is for this reason that I believe relationship work is
both creative and challenging, as it brings together such
a wealth of rich life experience. In my work with couples,
I always work with the uniqueness of both the individual experience
and the couple and believe a holistic and humanistic approach
to relationship work is vital.
Apart from counselling, other passions are cinema, the arts
and performing as an instrumentalist and singer at music,
singing and drama events.
Finally, being a father to a young boy is both a passion and
a life challenge and has been a constant source of love, challenge
and inspiration!
