Susan
McGrath BSc, MSc, PGDip Psychosynthesis Counselling
I work with individuals, couples and groups and have been
working in the counselling field since 1997.
I
initially trained as a telephone counsellor, while living
in Tokyo, and on my return to the UK, I completed my training
in Psychosynthesis Counselling. I then went on to train with
Relate in Couples Counselling. I see individuals and couples
at home in Horsley, Surrey.
I
am a member of the BACP and abide by their Code of Ethics.
I am also a member of the Surrey Counselling and Psychotherapy
Initiative (SCPI) which is a professional organisation for
qualified and accredited counsellors working in Surrey. I
feel strongly about attending regular supervision both for
my own professional development and for the benefit of my
clients. These discussions fall into the category of "two
heads are better than one" and help me to help my clients.
With couples, I work to create a safe space for each person
to bring their own perspective on the difficulties they face
in their relationship. The aim is to go beyond blame and hurt
and to highlight the distressing dynamic that is being perpetuated
by the actions of both parties. We work towards creating a
mutually supportive relationship for the couple which includes
a sense of security, comfort and belonging. Please contact
me on 0771 200 3233 or email susanmcgrath@yahoo.com.
